[MovieReview] Bee Movie

Bee Movie

Cast: Jerry Sienfeld, Renee Zellweger, Kathy Bates, Oprah Winfrey, Matthew Broderick

Director: Stephen Hickner, Simon J.Smith

"Bee licious movie"-Bezoe

Barry B.Benson (Jerry Sienfield), is a bee that just "graduated" from Bee College, and he is ready to serve his hive. But he is not interested in making honey for his entire life. Barry tries to find another suitable job but can't find one, until one day he gets a chance to see the human world and finds out that humans eat their honey.

Finally, another Dreamworks animation after their flagship release early this year (Shrek the Third). Is "Bee Movie" another great animation feature from Dreamworks? Or is it just another animation that no one will care about?

For the guys who love ultra-photo-realistic 3D animation, you will bee disappointed. There's not as the eye candy of Final Fantasy, or the colorful and magnificent ocean of Finding Nemo, or even the very nice lighting and a very ugly ogre (in a good way) of the Shrek series. But hey, Bee Movie is bee-liciously good!.

The graphics are very... yellow-orange the entire movie, but thats what bees look like, isn't it? All the textures look very simple; they are almost as simple as in Toy Story but the lighting and textures are better. But what I like is, for the entire movie, it is not the graphics we pay attention to, it's the story and the comedy.

The story is very nice and give us a lot of knowledge about the bee world, and why they are important in our human society. If you watch Animal Planet then you might already be well informed about the important role of the bee. If not, then "Bee Movie" will fill in some knowledge about bees. Bee-side the story, the humor is good, hey we have the great Jerry Sienfeld here!

But "Bee Movie" is not the best animated movie that's already been produced. It is not that bad, but it's just not the best. It might entertain a lot of children and teens, but I don't think it will be entertaining for mature adults, unless you love animated movies like I do. In conclusion, it is better than "Shark Tale", but not as good as Madagascar or Shrek. But bee-live me, it's still very entertaining. Try not to miss it.

[MovieReview] The Warlords

The Warlords

Cast: Jet Li, Andy Lau, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Xu Jinglei

Director: Peter Chan

"It is a movie not to be miss" -Bezoe

The Story Starts in the 1860s in the late Qing Dynasty. During that period, there was a lot of Kingdoms fighting each other to conquer the city. There was one battle in paticular where all the armies died and all left was the general. His name is Pang Qing Yun (Jet Li). Later in His journey, He met with Zhao ErHu (Andy Lau) and Jiang Wu Yang (Takeshi Kaneshiro). They sworn to become a blood brother so they can trust each other till the death.

Usually if there is Jet Li in a movie, it will bring the hype pretty high (admit it guys!). But what about adding another 2 superb actors? One is very well known in Hongkong, China plus other Asia regions (Andy Lau), and the other one from Taiwan (yes Takeshi is from Taiwan- 1/2 Taiwan 1/2 Japanese) ?. It should be a movie of the year no?

The opening scene really bring you in to the front seat to see whats going on during the period of time. It was a big battle happened everywhere, a pretty colossal I must say. I also notice some of the battle scene looks a bit like 300 (the scene where theres a lot of foot and head chopping). The action feel very classic Chinese-colossal-style battle. Don't compare it to a fancy Lord of the Ring types, it is more like Braveheart or Last Samurai (replace the samurai with Chinese sword). Even though there are a lot of battles, but it still have a interesting storyline

The Storyline is easy to understand, it is three men that are sworn as a blood brother, so even they are not at the same place when they are born, but they will die together. A lot of turmoil that will shake the brothers relationship in the movies. So I would say the story is very interesting to find out.

Acting wise is a top notch for all the three main actors. Jet Li still got the moves, Andy Lau still got the charm and Takeshi Kaneshiro still got the....look!. Jet Li role is the oldest brothers of three, he looks wise and mean. Andy is the middle, he is hard headed and never give up type. Meanwhile Takeshi is the youngest of three, he is the cheerful one. Even though Jet Li is getting old, but he still can kick a lot of ass in the movie, so get ready to get excited.

It is a movie not to be miss, it might be one of the best Chinese movies of the year. Even though you planning to catch it on weekday special price or weekend I don't care, just don't miss the movie, especially if you are their fans. Even though you not, its ok, you might be one later after watch the movie.

[MovieReview] I am Legend

I Am Legend

Cast: Will Smith

Director: Francis Lawrence

"Alot of Holes in the movies...."-Bezoe

Robert Neville (Smith) is a scientist, that try to save the earth from the outbreak that makes billions of people, some survivors after expose to the disease become a bloodthirsty creature. Neville tried to make the cure at the Ground Zero, which is located In NY city. But how can he find the cure for the outbreak? Especially with a swarm of bloodthirsty creatures. Plus since he is the last people in NY, there is no where to ask for help except his 4-legged friend. Will Neville save the world by finding the cure? or will the whole humanity being erase from the earth?

The Plot of the movie is very easy to guess hows the story will progress, Especially if you are a Zombie/Creature/Gory Monsters fan. Yep, beside this movie said to be a third remake. I think it is also a mix of a lot of zombies movie blend it together to make I am Legend. Couple movies that instantly cross my mind such as : 28 Days & Weeks Later, Resident Evil, Dawn of The Dead, a bit of Silent Hill movie and even Parasite Eve (oh yeah!). Too bad there was a lot of holes in the movie that makes you wondering what happen or why it happen. But no worries, its still entertaining.

I must say, Will Smith did a really good job, he made the movie believe able and we can feel the sympathy of a person who live alone.. well with a dog. Theres a couple of intense sequence that I can guarantee makes you jump from your seat. There was some funny scene also but in a cynical way.
Sound effect was very good! it makes the movie more "alive!". But can't praise too much for the special effects though, it looks good but it definitely won't win any SFX award this year.

Go see the movie when it play in your city, especially for zombie movie fans, it worthed. For a non zombie fans, no worries, Will Smith will entertain you.

[MovieReview] Hitman

Hitman
DIRECTOR: Xavier Gens

CAST: Timothy Olyphant, Olga Kurylenko, Dougray Scott

"Thank Goodness its not Uwe Boll's Movies" -Bezoe

Finally we can see Agent 47 in movie!, but is it good? We all know most of the "Game to Movie" genre never been good. There are countless of bad Game to Movies out there, that literally it is pain in the rear to even watch it.

Agent 47 (Timothy) is a heartless Assassin raised and trained by a shadowy Organization simply known as "The Agency. Since at a tender age, he already been trained to be a professional assassin that stay unknown by the FBI or police. After the agents "graduate" from the training facility, he is ready to do the job giving by "The Agency" to earn hard cash. Even the task is very hard, the agents can finish the job easily and rarely failed, because failure means the end of the contract and maybe their life.

The first thing that I highlight is the cast. I say Timothy Olyphant is a decent actor (he is not bad in Die Hard 4.0) but he is not the right cast for Agent 47 and I'm sure a lots of movie goers out there agree. Jason Statham or Vin Diesel are my personal choice (even maybe Bruce Willis?). Timothy can't bring the real Agent 47 emotionless into the movie. I though he will put some weight and muscle to play the character but he is too slim to be 47 and don't have the edge of looking like 47 from the game.

As far as storyline goes, it is enjoyable from start to end but its easily predictable. Fighting scene are ok, not so great. Nika Boronina (Olga) is hot though, and her acting is pretty good. recommend to catch the movie. The last thing I will mention is Thank goodness its not Uwe Boll's Movies.

[DVD Review] Equilibrium

Equilibrium (2002)
Cast:
Christian Bale, Taye Diggs, Emily Watson, Angus MacFayden, Sean Bean, William Fichtner.
Director:
Kurt Wimmer
Genre : Sci-Fi

Ok its an "old" movie, so what?

lets the review begin ^_^

Libria, a Metropolis that ruled by a ruler known as "Father". In order to create a "perfect" society, where there are no crimes, wars, murders and other violence. All of Libria Citizen requires to use a drug (Prozium) that will erase their violence behavior and other senses, such as joy, love and compassion from the world around them. But not all people happy about the rules. So there are a Resistances that trying to fight for the freedom of senses. In orther to keep the society in place, "Father" have a special force to tackle the Resistances, the special force is call Tetragrammaton Cleric who is highly trained in Gun training and also martial arts called "Gun Kata".

First I will say, congratulations Kurt! you make a superb movie with a low budget (Estimated 20 Millions - source wikipedia). Unfortunately the movie not a big hit worldwide, or even in US market. But nevertheless this movie earn the right to be "must seen" movie of all time from me.

Secondly, Beside an ugly cover, I hate the dvd box that have quote "Forget The Matrix, This movie will Blow you Away!" . Yes it did blow me away, thats why Im reviewing the movie and become one of my all time favorite. But I must get this straight, Equilibrium can't be compare to The Matrix...

The movie have created a fighting style that was very interesting to watch (and maybe learn) called Gun Kata. Gun Kata is a combination of fighting with guns that can literally make it almost unbeatable from any angle. The action scene very well done even though not perfect. The gun fight scenes were very memorable and I can guarantee that. Christian Bale as Cleric John Preston is a right choice, he played the character very well and I guess thats why he got the role for Batman Begins (kudos to Bale).

So, I recommend to get the DVD, its under $10 now which is cool.

[MovieReview] The HeartBreak Kid

The HeartBreak Kid

"Not the best Ben's Movie but its still enjoyable" - Bezoe

Cast: Ben Stiller, Michelle Monaghan, Malin Akerman, Jerry Stiller, Carlos Mencia, Rob Corddry
Directors: Bobby Farrelly & Peter Farrelly

The Story is about the guy name Eddie (Ben Stiller) who decided to have a relation with a girl he met at the street after he attended his formal ex-girlfriend wedding
(ouch). Lila (Malin Akerman) is the girl he met at the street. Eventually they decided to get married and the unfortunate event and reality starts to hit Eddie(Ben) during their honey moon. But soon Eddie try to turn the tide of his fate and try to express his true feeling.

The Overall Movie is not bad, but it reminds me of Drew Barrymore's "50 First Date". Some of the comedy scene still pretty funny, but some scene are too vulgar and meaningless. The dialog and the acting is just o.k nothing really cranks me up - although I laughed couple times.

Not the best Ben's movie but its still enjoyable. It is a movie that o.k to miss, but recommend to rent it or get the dvd.

[MovieReview] The Kingdom

The Kingdom

"Surprisingly.... Very good movie" - Bezoe

Cast:
Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman

Director: Peter Berg

Things go from bad to worse when an FBI investigative team hits Saudi soil after a vicious attack on an American housing compound.

Agent Fleury(Foxx) lead the team of FBI to investigate the scene, this isn't an ordinary place, its located in Saudi Arabia- Known as The Kingdom. An Hostile place for an Americans, especially FBI because the local don't like they sniffing to their bussiness. So there's a lot of trouble for even getting a slightlest hint of who they were after.

The action sequence of this movie was very intense, lots of gun firing, bodies blew to a bits, fallen comrades, and a good car chase scene. And all of the scene been executed well by the director in delivering the story (Kudos to Peter Berg).
To be honest I was expecting this movie to be around B rate movie, but suprisingly.... this is a very good movie and not to be miss.
